This is the story I didn’t know I needed. SPOILERS! The ease with which the FMC and MMC find themselves together and attracted to one another is a welcome change from the warring enemies to lovers I’m used to reading.

Hale is a breath of fresh air. He’s good from the start and never wavers. It would have been nice to get his point of view in this story though.

Loved it. Will continue reading the rest of the series.

I wasn't emotionally attached to anything in this story - but I can't say I was 'bored' because there was always something happening (albeit annoying or dumb some times)

There were a few moments where i was getting excited, specifically for the the horse sized lion that never came... but she did at least

I liked that she kept saying she wasn't fine when she wasn't - that was good for me.

Towards the end of the book ~70% it started to really pick up and there were two specific scenes that i thought were amazing visuals that I will think about for some time, horrific and gory, but well done.

Not sure how this hasn’t blown up on booktok yet! I’m so glad I found it though. The main character was lovable from start to finish. Not sure I’ve ever used the word “wholesome” to describe books in this genre, but it definitely had its moments. When I finished, I actually said out loud “what a sweet story.”

I do not like age gaps, but for the most part it was not terrible.
Remy being the missing fae princess was not that big of a surprise. However, her having two living siblings was a surprise. And then, her getting her brother back to just have him die was devastating. Her younger sister being so aloof was so sad. Her relationship with Heather and Frenin was so sweet, but Heather sacrificing herself to save Remy was heartbreaking. I liked the friendship that developed between Remy and Hale's warriors. And that the prince of the North being an ally was surprising. Hale was great. I got over the age gap pretty quickly because he didn't treat her like she was only 19, and she acted older, mostly because of the trauma. Her taking her place as the Queen of the Mountain Court was a good ending and it set things up nicely for a sequel.
This had action, adventure, revenge, romance, and magic. If it weren't for the age gap it would have been a 5* read. However, I cannot wait to read the next one!

Easy, fun read. I forgot how to adult and finished this book instead of doing anything that I needed to do. Enemies to lovers, fake dating, one horse - this book has all the goods. Can’t wait for book 2!
