The High Mountain Court by A.K. Mulford

I think this would be a really great read for someone looking for something quick, or maybe high schoolers? I just found the writing to be really easy, and not in a great way (for me personally). It kind of reminded me of wattpad writing or something. Then again I didn’t really give this book its fair chance

Not a horrible book, but it just wasn't for me. I found it hard to stay engaged with it. I'm not a huge fan of one person POV. I also think the main characters fell for each other sooner than I like. I'm more of a slow burn type of person lol. It was also a little too predictable. I did love the aspect of fae and witches together. I think I have just read a few too many fantasy books that I kept comparing this one to the others. All in all, I give it 3 stars.

I found this read was fun. To begin it I found myself falling in love with the book but lost it a little at the end when I found the cliche love trope was not my thing and I wasn't interested in the next book.

It was a little too fast at times, but it was fun! I enjoyed the world building and many of the minor characters had real personalities. What a feat for Milford's first published novel

3.5 rounded down to 3.

I enjoyed reading this book because it made me nostalgic for the fantasy romance I read in high school. It reminded me a lot of the spicy one I accidently stumbled upon. The High Mountain Court was fast paced and its shorter page count was very refreshing considering many other romantasy books run needlessly long. Remy and Hale were very likable. I really enjoyed their reluctant allies to lovers arc.

However, the plot twists were noticeable from a mile away, and the angst never materialized. Some chapters ended on a cliffhanger only for the problem to be resolved in the first paragraph of the next chapter.

Read this book if you like:
-Witches
-Fae
-Fallen Kingdoms
-Lost Magical Items
-Quests & Heists
-Reluctant Allies to Lovers
-Roguish Princes

It was utterly predictable with the basic fantasy outline.  Fae, close proximity, unknown powers, tension.  Not bad, but it left me feeling very meh about continuing the series.
