I almost DNFed the first time she mentioned pulling a cotton ball out of her nose and SQUEEZING IT but no, I forced myself to power through only to spend hundreds of pages reading about her leaky nose before I finally gave in. What in the ever loving hell Booktok?! I have seen this book recommended by some of my most trusted and beloved book influencers and I feel so bamboozled.

First of all, this book should have 200 pages shorter. Like for real was the author getting paid by the word?! 515 pages of nothing. NOTHING. Unless you count the FMC saying “Jack” 766 times (yes I did look up the exact number).

I have never gotten the ick so violently as I did with both of the MCs. Rose is so horse-girl coded I’m honestly shocked she didn’t gallop everywhere she went. Jack was just a jerk. Not in the powerful, no nonsense lawyer who can be direct but has a heart of gold kind of way. No, he was a jerk in the never learned social skills and doesn’t treat people like human beings kind of way. It was such a turn off. Their dialogue managed to feel both like a giant run on sentence and incredibly stilted. Still baffled by it.

The plot? Nonexistent. I get we have to suspend our disbelief for any marriage of convenience trope but this was a stretch. It’s like the author decided on the tropes before she had an actual plot fleshed out and it just made everything so clunky. We all love a hurt/comfort trope but did you have to make the hurt spinal fluid leaking from her nose?! If you have to force a plot point just to have a specific trope, you lose all of the magic that makes that trope good.

Booktok has done me dirty before but I’ll never forgive them for this one!

This book has been sitting in my Apple Books for so long and I just randomly scrolled and it caught my eye and I’m very glad it did.
Immediately loved the choice for character names lol. I’d find myself reading Rose’s pov in Kate Winslet’s voice. Especially anytime she said “Jack.” So funny.
I loved Rose and Jacks banter. The book is FULL of the funniest banter scenes. I was laughing out loud throughout the whole thing.
Jack’s ability to slowly readjust the way he interacts with people solely because of Roses intentions when she does it was so freaking cute.
I did cry when Rose was put in anxiety inducing situations. I felt for her.
I felt their love, their tension, I felt it all. Towards the end it felt the tiniest big dragged out which resulted in me taking a while to finish the book but it was amazing!

This was a cute feel good read. I love characters like Rose, especially how she interacted with Mr Grump Jack. I don’t know why but I LATCHED onto her counting the times he smiled, idek it just had me cheesing.

The start felt quite slow to me but eventually Rose’s bubbly personality showing  and Jacks POV are what kept me going, that man was whipped and I love that for Rose. Also, could have used a bit more grovelling because Jack
paid Rose’s boyfriend to leave her
WHAT?! thats… wild, for me that should’ve enlisted a bit more grovelling on Jacks part, that being said I think Rose’s reaction was a liiiittle over the top, the only deception was how they meant and his initial intentions which changed very wuickly, at some point she says she realised Jack loved her following her health scare stuff but then when the conflict happens she is suddenly like “So this was all fake” Girl?.

Can we talk about the Epilogue and their traditions and exceptions? Thats such a cute concept I think more people should do, so cute🥹

There’s not much happened in this book. The plot is basically finding out about the real reason why the MMC proposed marriage to the FMC. Kinda boring for me. Definitely skimmed through this book after the 65% mark. I got bored quite early on, around 45% in.

Also, it’s quite spicy. Normal spice though. Not like dark romance spice.

my god...where do i even start. i absolutely adored this book. like, oh my god. jack hawthorne <333 both him & rose stole my heart. i loved the alternating perspectives, especially because it was done so well & it wasn't like one chapter her, then him. i won't lie the first chapter i was so confused but then my questions were answered later. this book has rejuvenated my skin & made me believe in love again. i love you jack. i need him expeditiously. also i love that rose is a strong lead like i love her she's a girl boss & jack is so supportive of that w/o being a condescending jerk. like he's perfect. this has got to be the healthiest fake relationship/marriage to real lovers i have ever read. i just. i cried. i will hold this book close to my heart forever.

Marriage of convenience. Fake dating. He fell first. Grumpy X sunshine. Dual POV. Need I say more. This book pulled at my heart. Their love felt so real and infectious. The illness part and how she and he dealt with it really struck out to me, as someone who is ill and always in hospital, I hope to one day have someone like Jack by my side. Some real lovable side characters. The vibe is amazing. It’s so so well written.I just love this book.

Really sweet and such a good Grumpy x Sunshine story. Slow burn done really well because you fully got to see the characters develop into themselves and in the budding relationship before anything happened. So cute and emotional, I love these two & the tension was great too.
