A guide to living a wholehearted life by embracing being imperfect and focusing on courage, compassion, and connection. The author suggests cultivating authenticity, self-compassion, resilience, gratitude, joy, faith, creativity, mindfulness, playfulness, laughter/dance/songand meaningful work.

My first Brené Brown book and I will definitely be reading more. My only qualm was the religious aspect of the book but that did not detract overall. It had some great messages that I highlighted and will be returning to later.

It's a self-help book, so I was very skeptical going into it. I only read it because my therapist recommended it, and I'm giving it 1 star because it did give me a tiny bit of self-awareness into why I can't fully feel positive or negative emotions.
I'm still pretty much lost tho. nothing revolutionary here.

If I had read this before Daring Greatly, I think I would have liked this a lot more, but a lot of the same ideas are featured in both and Daring Greatly is better written and more compelling.

This book focuses more on identifying and dealing with perfectionism while Daring Greatly lists perfectionism as just one of the fuels for shame which prevents us from living our best life.

Still a great book with fabulous insights. Especially helpful are the "Guideposts" she's developed in shaping the book (and as quick reference tools for shaping your life).

I love Brene Brown but for whatever reason I just can’t finish this book. My time ran out on my Libby loan, maybe another time.
