This one was more clearly for older kids - themes of middle school romance, more graphic/frightening violence. More time spent on character development than prior books.

In the fourth installment of the Spiderwick Chronicles Mallory is taken and the Grace siblings are almost killed by dwarves. This was the most tense of the book series so far and
they finally meet Mulgrath face to face.
I did like this book more than the rest, but maybe that's because Jared is finally learning to think about others.
