The first half is a deep look into unreliable narrators which is totally my jam. And then Part two feels like “oh we’re gonna get some answers” and that’s a big ole lie. The second half, although still an unreliable narrator felt more like an act. She knew what she was doing by leaving things out and asking too many rhetorical questions so it was harder for me to feel for her. The story is simple, no jump scares, and mostly benign so this really is just a deep character analysis about marriage and loyalty and love.
