Umm, just not what I wanted.
This book was a hard one for me to get through after absolutely LOVING The Fourth Wing:
Pros:
-Stronger character development
-More world building and understanding the politics
-More Xaden and Violet
-Cliffhanger ending
Cons:
-VERY slow (try to get to the 30% mark for the ability for things to speed up)
-Just when it starts getting good, it hits a plateau
-The steamy scenes from Xaden and Violet didn't hit....but maybe because I felt like they are literally teens
-The majority of the book is boring with little crumbs of entertainment.
Read it because you have to, and we shall wait for the third book.

Dear lord Rebecca you ruined all men for us!
Once again Rebecca wrote a masterpiece, leaving us hooked from beginning to end!
Could have been a shorter book? Yes it could, because those initial fights between Vi and Xaden could have been cut shorter. And Vi got on my nerves with the unreasonable jealousy, the man worships the ground you stand!
But those 100 last pages where 70% of the real important story happened makes it worth of 5⭐️.
Just wish we could have seen more of every other character and not just glimpses of one or two.

This one was a bit slower and had less of a big overall reaching plot. The end was a cliff hanger like I was told! I liked the first one more because more happened, but I see why this one was the way it was because we learned a lot more about the world.

This book started out slow for me. There were moments that I found really exciting and others that I found myself wanting to breeze through as quick as possible to get to the next exciting thing. I grew a bit tired of the romantic aspect of the story. Overall it was a fun read.

Die ersten 100 Seiten waren aufklärend, denn wie bereits gesagt: oh. Mein. Gott. Brennan. Lebt.
Danach empfand ich es abwechselnd als spannend und nervig. Spannend durch die Geschichte, wie sich die Revolution wortwörtlich revolutioniert und wie die Reiter mit den Fliegern arbeiten, doch gleichzeitig nervig, denn die Streits von Violet und Xaden waren echt blöd. Eifersucht in Büchern? Echt nicht. Und immer dieser Mangel an Vertrauen und Offenheit, arrgh! Ich mag die beiden trotzdem, aber neee…
Wie ich zu Dain stehe? Ich vertraue ihm nicht, aber irgendwie ist er cute? So auf die kleine-Bruder-Weise? Oder doch eher cringe wie ein bockiges Kind in der Form eines Mannes? Oder direkt eine Alpha Male red flag? Keine Ahnung… aber wenn er lebt, komme ich damit klar. Sein Tod wäre allerdings auch nicht allzu tragisch.
Und Sloane ist so cute! Ich liebe sie so und sehe Liam total in ihr! Und Andarna hat sowieso mein Herz. 💜

How a book series can go from “this is the best thing ever” to “wtf is happening” so fast is beyond me. The bag was utterly fumbled
It was so long. Way too long - I’m pretty sure I read the first in like 2 days but it felt so short, with this i was practically willing it to be over. Which is unfortunate because the pace really picked up in the last 100 pages
Unfortunately I am too invested in this series and will probably be buying the next book but lord did some of this shit piss me off.
I can only really tell you what happened in the last 100 pages because that was the only interesting part. Pure waffle.
