I remember loving this book the first time I read through it, but the second time seemed to drag on. I kind of forgot how unbearable Violet and Xaden are as they petty fight over trust and love. Like maybe you just sit down and have an honest conversation instead of making the other bend to your will. BUT second half is much better. I still like the characters, but there isn’t much character development throughout the book. My highlights were and still are the interrogation and the end battle scene. Could the book have been shorter though. Yes.
I still read the series, though, for the dragons. I love the dragon bonding, signets, dragon dialogue, and I just adore Tairn and Andarna.

A fun continuation, that digs deeper into the history and mystery of Basgiath War College. I love a good government conspiracy/cover up storyline, and it was a fun addition to this world, setting new stakes and adding more conflict other than a war.
I think the thing about this series is that while it is one of the defining "spicy" books, those scenes aren't the entire focus of the series. However, now that I'm two books in, I'm bored of the spicy scenes and they just felt repetitive after a while.
