at a birthday, a friend unwrapped this book as a gift and another asked me “what’s it about?” and i said “assisted suicide”

A highly intellectual look at the human condition. The main character narrates her own experience of her friends wish to die with dignity and other people's struggles. There are some entertaining moments but it felt emotionally cold or robotic.

I picked this up thinking it would be a comfort as I am going through my own struggles. I was incorrect on that assumption. While I wasn't completely put off, it was a struggle and if it wasn't an audiobook I would have DNF'd. I prefer more emotional connection and meaning in my stories.
