Listened with audiobook as a companion to the hardback - was great to have Kelly’s voice to narrate.
As someone who, too, has had bouts of deep depression but also grew up loving anything crafty, this book was a nice read. Honestly I’m just glad to have it handy - to have a ‘handbook’ of sorts to remind me of ways to keep my mind busy when it feels otherwise sad and chaotic.

I adored the book Adulting by Kelly Williams Brown and have given it to several college graduates as a book of good life advice. I enjoy crafting and have had my share of mental health issues so I was looking forward to this book. Brown had a rather rough go of things for several years (collapsed marriage, broken limbs, family members being diagnosed with illness, etc) and ends up in an inpatient facility to "rest". She is open and honest about her struggles with mental health. If you are in a dark time, that might not be the best time to pick up this book as there is a decent amount of talk about suicide and deep depression. You also need to be in the right frame of mind for someone to poke fun at some of her own mental issues (even the title may anger some with the use of the word "Insane"). There are some craft ideas included in this book but if you are looking for a book about doing crafts, look elsewhere. If you are looking for an honest look at mental illness and one woman's way of clawing her way back from the brink, this might be the book for you. This book won't be for everyone, but it is a good look at depression and what it takes to come back from that darkness (for one person).

This book is bravely and beautifully honest, and it was nice to read my terror of the Trump presidency.

Enjoyable and enlightening. I skipped the chapter on her suicide attempt. I appreciated her candour and insight.
