I gotta be honest, I have no idea what’s going on but, I’m hoping it’ll make sense eventually. I’m intrigued. I don’t think I could get through the regular novel of this though

No matter what I will always give my favorite series 5 stars because I simply am biased and I don’t know that I could ever hurt Wei Wuxian or Lan Zhan’s feelings like that.

However, the pacing of the manhua is SLOW and maybe not the most articulate at conveying the story. Understanding that this is coming from a WEBTOON format, the short chapters make sense, but I do find it jarring that there’s a two page spread that I have to pass over every 10 pages. This isn’t a big book to begin with and so the frequency of how often the chapters end feels excessive.

I do think the footnotes were a good feature for anyone unfamiliar with certain terms within the xianxia genre as well as basic Chinese phrases/terms.

I also really appreciate that so far the manhua has stayed more consistent to the novel and so it’s great to see Wei Wuxian starting off strong as just the biggest menace who thinks he’s going to get his way by teasing Lan Zhan…and finds that Lan Zhan is only too willing to give Wei Wuxian anything he wants. Ah, it just makes me happy to see Lan Zhan happy.
