3.5 stars. Took me almost three months to get through this book. I will say that after reading this author’s notes at the end of the book, I greatly appreciate the efforts she went to in researching and making Lucrezia come to life. Lucrezia was a real person who died at a tragically young age and her tale was fascinating, but sad. I’m glad to have learned of her.

The author writes beautifully, but my reason for 3.5 stars is that the story at many times drug for me. I think it could have been told in maybe 200 pages instead of 350. I almost put this book on the DNF list, but am glad I stuck with it. It finally started to pick up pace in the latter part of the book.
