slow-paced

Almost DNF’ed and should have. Boring. I don’t understand the hype. The pace was alright at the beginning but lost it’s path midway.
The twist was incredibly predictable

as soon as she presented the maid 😟.

Give me back my 13,5 hours.

A friend recommended this after seeing how I enjoyed the other boleyn girl. How wrong you were recommending this to me friend ;p.

The first 30% was fast paced and interesting. From 60% it slowed down significantly, and lost its charm. The narration lent itself to feel very far removed from the confliction & turmoil of the story. Lots of meandering and useless details to set nothing up.

Perhaps it being a novella would have forced the author not to be soo long winded.

Beautiful writing. Lucrezia is stepped in for a dead sister, in an arranged marriage to the Duke. A powerful man who demands obedience, and when he does not get satisfaction, moves to take the necessary steps. Lucrezia is a young woman, who defies the ordinary, and who observes life through a rather different lens. I found myself horrified and intrigued, both at the same time, and at different moments as well.
