This. Book. Sucks. It's marketed as a sweet story between an orphan who got her life together and a billionaire.
But there is SO MUCH TRAUMA in this book.  And it's not handled well at all.
There are two former orphans and they both lived through childhood sexual abuse (one of them goes into way too much detail imo).
On top of that--as if that's not enough for us to get the point that people are going through it, there's child death, kidnapping, infidelity, on-page murder, spousal r*pe, and at least two instances of cancer.

I was determined to finish because I wanted to see how this author wrapped it up into a happy ending. But then I read some reviews on StoryGraph and learned that it's part of a duology--so this story doesn't resolve itself at all. So I just quit.

While this book wasn’t particularly spicy, it was full of sizzling chemistry and heavy emotions. I didn’t realize it was a duet, at first, so I was confused when things weren’t resolved. But I’m so glad there is more because I wasn’t ready to put the story down just yet.

Whew, love triangle. The book was okay. It fell little short for me.

For some reason everything felt rushed. The plot twist was completely random and almost not even necessary.

The miscommunication and dishonesty was over dramatic.

This could have easily be put as one story instead of a second book.

loving Kennedy Ryan right now!

“Will they won’t they” love shape of sorts haha. family trauma and drama. soulmates in all different forms.

I typically don’t like this trope/themes, however it is well rounded & such good writing— IMO

my love for this book is mostly rooted in my hopes for the rest of the series.

I hope to hear more about Jo’s upbringing and love for cam. KR kind of turned her into a villain at the end 😬

I wanted more from the Hati situation, idk what. I need more about Sofie even though I reallly don’t like her. 🙃

I wish we would’ve gotten more dialogue or flashbacks to truly form cam & kerris relationship because it feels surface level and strictly trauma bonded (word used in the cultural context not pathologically)

this could’ve easily been a five star read had the author wrote the story as a standalone, not an overdramatic duet.
