I hated Bully, but I kind of loved Punk 57, so I wanted to try to give Penelope Douglas another chance and womp, womp, it was terrible.
This was a confusing, annoying listen the whole time and it made me realize I needed another break from Audible Romance. That happens every once in a while anyway, but it usually takes something quite bad to break me down.
I think the thing that bothered me most was the timelines. I had a truly difficult time distinguishing past from present, even despite the "3 Years Ago" and "Present Day" bumpers at the beginning of every chapter. There was hardly any difference between the past and present voices of any of the characters and I was near-constantly lost.
It wasn't fun or sexy either, it was just dumb garbage like Bully. I may still try to read Birthday Girl one day, but for now I need some fantasy or something.

mother penelope ate and left no crumbs with this one
I am speechless. if you’re just dabbling into dark romance it will be a slay. It’s not to extreme that I felt questionable about what I was reading but the kinks were portrayed beautifully in my opinion. Had me needing to take breaks and shower because wow wow it hit the spot.

Corrupt has been on my TBR since 2015 and I think I probably would have rated it higher back then than I can now. I don't read a lot of high school/college stories anymore because I almost always find the characters to be annoying and immature. If I look at Corrupt for what it is: a group of rich kids who think they are above the law and above morals, then this was a good book. Side note: that is the exact lens I'm rating this book through. There were a lot of twists that kept my attention, a whole lot more WTF that kept me asking why, and a little spice. There were a few sweet and sexy parts, but overall Corrupt was exactly what you'd expect from spoiled, rich, high school/college aged kids who think they own the world. The audiobook was done well though and I liked the dual narration and the alternating POV between past and present.
