I really enjoyed this book but I felt like what I read in the summary was different then what I read in the book. It isn't a bad thing but I did like the romance that happens.

After free-spirit Charlie crashes into party-boy Andre's car, she agrees to drive him until his ride is fixed. Will these opposites attract?

This is a YA version of sweet small-town romance. Lots of quirky characters and slapstick comedy.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Thanks to the publisher and edelweiss for the early copy!

Charlie is over her small town - she's over her falling-apart house that her parents have no interest in fixing. She's over her parents in general, who are sort of separated but also live in the same house? It's confusing to her, too. They both used to be artists but have kind of let their hobbies fall to the wayside as they've aged. Charlie likes architecture, and that's why it's hard for her to not be able to make the changes to their house that she wants to.

In order to save up to move out of town, Charlie drives for a local high-schooler created and run rideshare app. We aren't supposed to know the logistics of this one - just that a high schooler from Charlie's school created it one day and only high schoolers use it. Convenient to the plot, works for me. Her driving is all fine and dandy until one day her safety rating meets its match - hitting Andre's parked car. Andre is the local favorite, friends with everyone, but Charlie's kind of annoyed by him. Even more so when they strike a deal that he won't report her safety infraction if she transports him wherever he needs to go.

They get to know each other, and they change each other, and it's sweet. Andre is dating someone at the start of the book, but they split up and there's ample time before the main couple gets together that it doesn't feel gross. Their relationship is sweet. There's a miscommunication trope sort of, but it's a miscommunication that makes a little sense, and all's well that ends well.

I didn't love the way Charlie's friends acted about her working. It was totally normal for them to act that way, but they just acted like her working ruined their plans (it sort of did), but not everyone can afford not to work. I didn't love the way Charlie's parents treated her about their relationship or about other household stuff.. "we're the parents" was used more than once to explain their actions and it was just kind of like ??? You chose to raise this kid lol and she's a real person you owe her more than that for real.

Another odd thing is part of Andre's wooing of Charlie involves showing her things around their small town that she hadn't seen before which like? She's lived there forever but whatever I guess maybe she's ignored some things

The relationship with her small town and her friends was sweet and part of it even made me cry.

Basically, it was a nice read, but I'm not gonna remember it forever.

This was such a charming opposites attract YA romance that sees local ride share driver, Charlie crashing into Andre and having to drive him around as payment. I loved the banter and the chemistry between these two. The book gave all sorts of Lynn Painter and Emma Lord vibes. Highly recommended for fans of The do-over and great on audio with a GORGEOUS cover designed by Leni Kauffman. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

I liked this book! I’m not much of a YA reader and was a little apprehensive when I started it. I was pleasantly surprised! I liked how Charlie isn’t just some love sick teenager and had other priorities besides high school drama. I liked that she was trying to find her place in the world.
Charlie and Andre did bring help the other see a side that they weren’t willing to look at.

Thank you to Edelweiss + for the eARC in exchange for an honest review

What a sweet YA romance. A love letter to architecture, hometowns and New England. Being a New Yorker, the author got the geography right! It’s a story about discovering that home is right in front of you, that even if you want to run from it, it will always be there for you. First love isn’t too bad either. Read this in one sitting. Nice romcom escape for the summer!
