there's a bit of a disconnect with this book, when you look into it you see that it's comprised of three novellas (novelettes? idk) that were written for an anthology and when that fell through were put together here. I think it would have been better to rework it into a proper novel - the jump between the first and second was the worst because the characters were restating everything we had just read happen (this is also another point, where the characters rehash EVERYTHING, about themselves, their feelings, etc.). More dialogue than anything. Sex scenes only implied, all are fade to black.
The first section is my favourite by far, because you're hit with WILD information about the setting, our main character, his history, and his yet-to-be-realized future. Most of this part I read out loud with friends and we were literally screaming in delight. I would say from what, but I don't want to keep you from the discovery yourself. I intend to read something else from the author to see what else she has up her sleeve and how it compares to this.
