I've tried about 8 mug cake recipes from the book so far based on the ingredients I had on hand, and I do recommend doubling the sugar at least if you're used to American levels of sweetness for cake. Yes, you're not going to get the exact baked cupcake texture from a microwave mug cake, but add in a scoop of ice cream and it's pretty darn tasty for a 2 minute dessert snack. I also encourage playing around with the microwave times if you are having an issue with rubbery cake - I usually shortened my microwave time about 15 seconds from recommended.

I appreciate the large range of flavors available in the book, and I've also gone on the author's original Kirbie's Cravings blog for some other microwave recipes that are very convenient if I'm lazy!
