Probably my least favorite book from this author so far. A lot of things that happened were a bit ridiculous, but then again The Cousins had a very extra climax.

This wasn't one of McManus's best. Two of the three main characters were good, but Cal... I don't know why, but he really annoyed me. I just couldn't stand him. Also, when I can figure out what happened before I reach halfway... Sigh. It was a decent book, just rather predictable.

I’m a sucker for a high school drama, and that’s what Karen M. McManus does best! This had plenty of what all great stories have- a romance subplot, a mystery, plot twists, and well developed characters!

Going into McManus’ books I’m always a little wary about the multiple points of view, but every time I’m blown away. Every story of hers starts out with some character building, maybe a secret or two, and begins to intertwine and intersect with the other main characters. As you keep reading it’s really not jarring at all to switch points of view. It feels quite natural, and honestly exciting to get to know that character a bit better.

That last 10% or so was pretty rough- hard to care about these characters when the fast paced nightmare is over! This type of wind down definitely works better with a slower paced book, and it was the only issue I found with this book. It was honestly more of a “where are they now?” section of the book. There is a little spot right at the end that will drive you nuts- but…

Overall: 4.5⭐️
