I'm a big fan of Karin Slaughter's books. I went through all of the Will Trent books and then found the Grant County series which precedes the Trent books. Completely attached to the characters. Very graphic murder series - not for those who don't want the nitty gritty details!

My least favorite of this series. I could have lived without it

One of my favorites in the series. Something I’ve loved about Slaughter’s books is her interest in folding contemporary societal issues into her books, and she does so in a way that rarely feels hackneyed. Hers was the first novel, for example, that I read in which COVID masking and people’s attitudes toward taking precautions was a feature of the story.

Here, religious fundamentalism and male supremacy are front and center, with a focus on the ways in which women are harmed by male dominance. It’s interesting to read this 20 years later, where it still feels fresh in the time of Evangelicals forsaking their professed morals to support a political candidate whose life defies those values and the aftermath of the Dobbs decision.

I appreciate how the Grant County books balance a continuation of the storylines of Jeffrey, Sara, and Lena with introducing a new case each time. I’ll miss them after I read the next one, which ends the series.

I love that I got more Sara and Jeffrey and I still want to throw a brick at Lena but she's at least maybe trying now?? Great story very fast read even with how long it is.
Really wish there would have been a cult tie in though - kinda bummed they're just religious insurance fraudsters.

Wederom gewoon een goed boek van deze serie. Blijft lekker lezen.

This book was pretty lengthy, just like the others from Karin Slaughter. I really enjoyed the story at first, but the climax felt a bit too much for me. Also, I'm starting to get tired of Lena; I'm looking forward to wrapping up this series so I can dive into Will Trent.
