“We’re both drowning in the same ocean.”
Wow. You’d think after reading five books in this series, I would have seen it all. This book had so many little plots happening in everyone’s life, all connecting to the main plot perfectly. So many things just made it feel real: relationships, betrayal, religion, abuse, secrets, trauma, power, survival.

This was a rough one. I like how it all came together in the end but getting there took a while. I didn’t really feel hooked for a long time. Def check TW

I have one book left in the series but I can't do it. This is a great series if you love reading about horrific rapes in every book and increasingly implausible situations for your main characters. I loved Pretty Girls and the first few Will Trent books but it is increasingly clear that Slaughter is a one trick pony that doesn't know how to make her characters interesting outside of severe trauma and offers nothing for female victims in her books but rape.
