This book was a MASTERPIECE. I loved it so much omg. The way it was written was absolutely amazing. I was in their world, and I could feel the sad & happy moments. There’s obviously a very important story in this book, and I loved the writing, the emotions, and just everything.

YA historical fiction. This book does a remarkable job of presenting this story of enslavement to a YA audience without shying away from the brutality slavery, and even though it does show this reality, there is hopeful ending. The audiobook was a great way to read this book.
