I picked this book up on a whim at the library, and it was surprising! While the content involves a family run funeral home and a death in the family, it’s actually humorous! The main character is struggling to write a book, and she begins speaking with this ghost who was actually an editor for books. The story journeys through her struggle to write, a family funeral back home, and the eventual plot twist at the end. This was a light read in my opinion and I’d recommend!

"There is no happy ending, there's just... happy living. As best you can. Or whatever. Metaphor-metaphor-simile shit"

A beautifully written story about ghosts, love, grief and hope. This is the second Ashley Poston novel I've read this year and she'll now be an auto-read author for me. I loved this... ardently.

This book was a nice, light read. I particularly enjoyed the queer representation in some of the side characters, and the dynamic way all the characters in the book were written.

🐦‍⬛ After a debut novel that did not sell, Florence Day starts ghostwriting for a famous romance author. After a horrible breakup, she struggles to complete the last manuscript of her contract. Furthermore, her new, attractive editor, Ben refuses to extend her deadline. A tragedy takes her back home where she suddenly sees the ghost Ben. Flirty feelings unfurl and Florence revisits the town she once ran away from.

🐦‍⬛ This was such a perfect read - captivating and beautiful. It is funny, sweet, sad and happy! Florence is lovable and relatable; the perfect main character. Her story hides behind a romance. It is about Florence rediscovering herself and the character development shows. The twist brought surprise and excitement!

🐦‍⬛ The romance between her and the ghost of Ben is pure and magical . But what I love most is Florence's journey of self re-discovery and closure. There is so much heartbreak but the supporting characters anchor Florence and bring additional joy.

This is the first book I've ever read that deals with parent loss in a way that I found real/relatable. The book isn't really even about that, but I laughed and I cried and I loved it.
