I was on my library’s waitlist for this book for what felt like forever and now I know why.

A sweet and romantic ghost story about a ghost writer with a predictable plot twist that I nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed to the last word. This book made me laugh, cry, and smile while crying and placing my hand over my heart.

The Day family was perfectly written with the eldest, middle, and youngest siblings with all their different roles and personalities.

There were multiple love stories woven into this book and all but one were beautiful to read.

To the next 27 people waiting to borrow this book from my local library: it’s worth the wait. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

A solid 3, because while I love romance and dig a tall, broody marshmallow who can’t get enough of his girl, the FMC was annoying as hell in this novel and I couldn’t get over how awful she was.

I FINISHED IT!!
This was almost a dnf. The premise was interesting, the execution not so much. I don't think I would have finished it if I didn't start skimming through the overly repetitive and unnecessary descriptions.
Besides that, my main problem with The Dead Romantics was its sense of humour. It was constantly trying to be funny and I just didn't laugh a single time.  It was like watching a Two and a Half Men (I don't like Two and a Half Men). Come on, zoom-zoom juice??? Meaning coffe?? 😭
The writing was nothing special and neither was the chemistry between Florence and Ben. I feel like they didn't even knew each other that well, Florence was just constantly comparing Ben to her ex and that's it.
The two stars are for the premise and for the few pages that I was actually curious about what would happen next.

This is a really fun book that explores death, grief, and love. It was sweet and sentimental. Also, it was genuinely funny.

The wind is just the breath of everyone who came before us. All the people who’ve passed on, all the ones who’ve taken a breath… They’re still in the wind. And they’ll always be in the wind, singing. Until the wind is gone. Do you hear them?

I have to admit that I was hesitant at first to read this book, trepidatious about the emotions it would bring out. I lost someone very close to me this month, and I don’t think I could extricate that experience from my reading of this book if I’d even tried. The depictions of love, and death, and grief were so lovely that this book became a comfort. It made me cry, in the most cathartic way, and recall near and distant memories of my own losses. The romance was also delightful, and had a great arc, but for me this was more a story about love and mourning than romantic attachments. Beautiful, comforting, lovely; I’m so glad I read The Dead Romantics.
