It's perfectly paced and very well written. I read it in one sitting and it was one hell of an emotional journey. Believable and engaging, but with a taste of a feverish dream, to be honest. Despite how much Nora preaches safe, sane and consensual, her relationship with her dom are anything but. I'll just choose to see it as a sexual fantasy, but good god, I hope nobody took it as a manual for how sm should look like. The way Nora uses scenes is amazing, the way she is used during scenes made me clutch my pearls, cuz if your sub ends up
in a hospital
you are definitely doing it wrong. And that poor boy who had to deal with it is just a cherry on top.

At the beginning I assumed it will be a moving on story. Nora will fall for her editor, take control she was denied before and will explore a healthier dynamic. What memories are given about her past are pretty creepy, I didn't find them arousing, so I expected her to run from them, not into them. It made sense for Zach to
return to his wife
, it was growth. I can't see it as growth for Nora. Maybe it shouldn't necessarily be that, I don't know. It's interesting the author chose to end it this way. I'm certainly curious about the second book now because I want to understand why she did it.

DNFed. Fuck this shit. The underage boy, the mention of pedophilia, and abusive relationships disturbed me.
