This was just as good, but the first one will always have a special place in my heart.

Oh my goodness!

THIS. BOOK.

Ada Marie my momma heart will love you forever. This child overcame every obstacle set before her, and let me tell you there were many and they were tragic. But she persevered and created a beautiful life with the help of wonderful people, and of course, Butter her pony.

Ada’s life was full of ugliness and then beauty, she had me literally crying one minute and truly LOL, truly! Her literal and deadpan answers were the absolute funniest.

I borrowed the audible from Libby and the narrator was just phenomenal. I will be buying the PB to add to my library. I would definitely read the first in this two book series.

This follow up to one of my favorite books from 2016, The War that Saved My Life, is stunning. Often a sequel does not live up to the original. That is definitely not the case here. This book was every bit as good as the first.

This duo may be categorized as childrens' literature, but they have enough depth to cross ages and generations.

I really liked the first book, but I thought this sequel was just average. There weren't any surprises and it just seemed like, yes... this is what would have happened after the first book.

As soon as I finished The War that Saved My Life, I quickly checked this out from the library. Thankfully I didn't have to wait, because I couldn't wait to get started. I am always a little nervous about the second book in a series when I loved the first one so much. It's like I am gearing up to be disappointed. Spoiler alert...not disappointed at all. Loved it just as much as the 1st. Loved everything about it.

This sequel is just as great as the original. My children are reading as well and it's already been a family adventure. It's a book that accurately reflects the horrors of war and the world in general. Great case study on the impact of trauma and ignorance.

Both of these books are so good. Both made me cry! I’ve become so attached to all of the characters. And even though this is a middle grade book, I completely recommend it to adults as well!
