In the first like 1/3 of this book, I wasn't rlly that into the whole story. I mean, I still wanted to keep on reading it, but I wasn't super engrossed into the story because Emilie's character frustrated me and I so badly wanted to to enter the book world and tell her to come to her senses. However, she was really real in that aspect, the times she acted in ways that I frustrated me but they were understandable to an extent because we are all human and we don't always know how to take care of situations. I thought to myself that if I knew my boyfriend was cheating on me, ain't no way I'd act like how she acted in the beginning and I wouldn't try to prevent the cheating and just dump him instead. As the story progressed, we really got to see her character develop and we really got to see our girl develop a backbone to really speak her mind and confront people. When she finally stopped giving a shit and became less uptight, her character became a million times more likable and the story really piqued my interest then. I also love Nick's character and he's another ideal book boyfriend to have. He's charming, pays attention to the little things, gives her her jacket when she's cold, sticks up for her/looks out for her because he doesn't want her to get hurt by the same guy again, goes the extra mile to make her feel special and show his genuine emotions for her... curse you lynn painter for writing a guy like this that I know will be literally impossible for me to find! :(

I'll be honest that I think falling in love in simply a day is super unrealistic. I get that this is a story, but a part of me can't help but think, ain't no way they fell in love in just a day. Sure, for Emilie with her days repeating multiple times she technically spent multiple days with the guy. But he in the present time only really spent that one valentines day with her, and they didn't really talk before valentines. How is it possible he fell for her THAT fast? I'll be honest when I say that this part doesn't make sense to me. In addition, this was the first book I ever read with the "groundhog day" trope, and I was getting kind of sick of it before the last repeat happened. I realized I'm not the biggest fan of the trope, lol. It was getting kind of boring before the book picked up its pace and Emilie had her big character development. Because of these two things I can't give this book 5 stars, but nonetheless it was good and I'll give it 4.

Where the fuck was my own Nick Stark when I was in high school????
