I get the shock value, I get the examination of fanatic internet forums, but I simply am not the target audience for this. Thank fuck for that.

This book was weird and gross and graphic and violent and I loved it. I had no idea who was what and what was happening for most of the book but in the most addictive way. It was such a fast read. I couldn't put it down.

what if it was all a dream but like it was a fucked up reddit thread, i felt dirty after reading as if i was an accomplice to all their acts which is what i think the author wanted to portray. i know it as its great potential as a story, and i want to give the merit of this novel as an unconventional and mesmerizing piece of fiction, though the uneasiness was too evident for me to not enjoy it as a whole, i could not keep myself off it. idk if cooper is a genius or just what the fuck bro.

what a way to pick me up from my prose reading slump

i can’t even rate it. i finished it in one sitting but this was by far one of the most disturbing books i have read in my life. i don’t recommend it to ANYONE especially if you’re not mentally prepared. it’s extremely dark and the author does a great job at making us uncomfortable. and it’s also very very very graphic

without a doubt the most depraved book i’ve ever read. particularly disturbing because of how realistic the online forum elements are portrayed. provides a demented but interesting exploration of internet myth and creepypasta [?] culture and is told in a unique way. think it’s effective as a plain ole shocking and disgusting piece of fiction. another reviewer noted that the experience reading this is probably the same as if you were watch a cartel torture video. i can’t think of a more accurate description. so there’s that. some really sick twisted shit here, but can’t deny the creativity and compelling narrative structure

This was horrendously vile. But its also an interesting look at farce and obsession through the lens of the early internet. I really liked how Cooper played with form throughout, though. Overall, not for the faint of heart but thought-provoking if you let it be.

The internet has always been a wild place, and at the era of the forums during the early 2000's a unique discourse grew there which still haunt us. With the ability to rank and review the hired experience of a scort, a prostitute, or a rent boy, the sexually driven fantasies turn into a shared space on the net to classify bodies according to both their aesthetic, capabilities and customer service.

Cooper plays along in this mix with the character of Brad, that emerges and it is built upon the signals of others. A great mastery of the vocabulary (the lingo and the terms are excruciatingly on point), the morbid fascination of those who roam the internet looking to be stimulated either by just visualization or by recreating their experiences feed the idea that pleasure entails pain and spectacle. The voices of the forum are carefully crafted as to be always daunting, questioning or pushing in the turmoil of what is possible to do when you pay for it.

Providing such tiny details to craft episodes of torture unfortunately does not make the story more enticing, it just anxiously attempts to grasp shocking values. The value of this level of detail can now be seen in professional studios where paid actors portray just pieces of ass and meat, giving this novel a run for its money. Nonetheless can wonder how many Brads are just strolling the streets, completely let go of themselves.
