This book has everything: romance, thrill, crime - it's psychological twists and turns kept me guessing. And based on the conclusion of Part I I never would have dreamed where the storyline was headed. The first few chapters dragged on, and Waters can get overly verbose with Frances's inner thoughts and daily chores. The book didn't even feel like historical fiction - the plot could have easily taken place today. Really enjoyable read.

This was a trip of a book. It keeps you going with twists and turns, and you never quite knew what would happen as things were going on. The relationship between Lilian is a wonderful mess, and really describes how relationships start out and the secrecy and excitement of something somewhat forbidden. I would recommend this book to those that want a LGBTQ+ historical fiction book, with mystery. I also think that the ending was so satisfying!!
