Hades is a sweetheart and hot, Persephone is stubborn and strong willed, love a retelling with a spicy twist. Also love the world building of Olympus as a city with the main gods as political positions

I’m going to be honest, it took me a while to get into this book. But once I did, I raced through.

We’ll get one thing out of the way first. Yes, this book is spicy. If it weren’t for the Greek Myth themes, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up. I’m not really mad about that though.

So let’s get into the plot. The concept of the 13 and their position in the world was pretty confusing to me. It takes a backseat to the spice in the book, which is probably why it doesn’t have time to develop. But in general, I’d love some more world-building.

I also got the ick from a few questionable bits of dialogue and actions. Some red flags were raised. Look at the content warnings if you want specifics.

It’s hard to suspend disbelief when the characters in this world aren’t actually Greek deities. Instead, they’re kind of normal people, just with a lot of power and money.

Aside from that, Neon Gods offers a fun ride. It’s fast-paced and entertaining, and you can get lost in it pretty quickly. A good read if you can set aside misgivings and let go.

The classic tale with a twist and lots of spice! A wonderful and entrancing story I read so quickly because I struggled to put it down. The natural chemistry between Hades and Persephone is written so well that all of their interactions are *chefs kiss*

On top of that, the Olympus that Katee Robert creates is so dark and multilayered. Lots of fun side characters, realistic drama going on behind the scenes, and - staying true to real Greek mythology - the characters are so effortlessly, casually queer. Will be devouring this whole series!

Wow 😏 I’m not usually into super spicy books but I thought this one had a good level, where it focused more heavily on the plot but still added quite a bit of 🔥 in the last 2/3’s. I wasn’t too keen on the fact that it was a very modernized retelling but I loved the concept as a whole. I loved Hermes as a side character!! And otherwise, yeah there were flaws and cliches, but I don’t think that’s what most of us were paying attention  to…
Anyway yeah I’ll read anything Hades and Persephone even if I know it’ll be a bit out of my comfort zone. And in this case, going out of my comfort zone was rewarded!

I love a reimagining of Greek Mythology. This one took away their god statuses but kept them at the most powerful 13, in the city of Olympus. I love portrayals of Hades like this where he is the bad guy in everyone’s story until Persephone shows up.

I liked this book because it was enjoyable, but that is about all the reason I have. The plot isn't great. Not sure if it just wasn't planned out well enough or if the pace was too fast, but there are definitely plot holes. If you like spicy books this is a good option, but the plot is lacking.

I will say I liked the Greek gods twist.

I thought this was going to be a more serious, captivating retelling of Hades and Persephone. It ended up reading like a spicy fanfic, which is not what I expected this to be, but I’m still happy nevertheless. 5/5 for capturing my attention and being sexy, minus 1 star for some cheesy plot/writing.

An absolutely wonderful take on the modern-day Olympus. Roberts weaves a story through easy-to-digest prose and a compelling array of cast members that explores the connections and wonder of a completely different world.

Hades and Persephone specifically have excellent tension and a fantastic dynamic. Seeing the growth and opening up to each other (in more ways than one 😉) made my heart flutter for them. I can't wait to explore the next in this series!
