I thought this could be a good turn-your-brain-off kind of read, but it just made me cringe and feel uncomfortable. 

Plus, I didn’t feel like I knew or connected with the characters well enough to appreciate the more spicy scenes in the book. 

I’m glad others have found enjoyment in this story, but it wasn’t for me.

I much prefer this version of Hades and Persephone over the version in A Touch of Darkness. Unique world building, compelling plot, interesting characters, and excellent spice. I only wish there'd been a little more exposition to really establish the villain as scary and threatening. Looking forward to reading the second one!

Kink-friendly forced proximity/fake dating plot. I was definitely entertained, though I was a bit confused about the Hades/Persephone retelling. I feel like it's actually just more like Hades/Persephone fan fiction? Because it wasn't actually based on their story. The characters in Neon Gods aren't actually gods at all. The only vaguely supernatural aspect of the story is the difficulty characters face crossing the river Styx. I'll be reading the sequels for the romance, but if you're a Greek mythology buff looking for a good retelling, I'd skip this one.
