This is a rounded up 2.5 for me. I liked the concept but it felt underdeveloped to me. I do love the dragon illustrations though.

Book 155: The Awakening Storm: A Graphic Novel (City of Dragons #1) by Jaimal Yogis

I am enjoying the feature on Goodreads that tells you what other graphic novels readers enjoyed if they read this one. I have filled my library hold cart again with all the suggestions.

Synopsis: Grace and her friends must protect a newly hatched dragon from mysterious evildoers.
The dragon has immense powers that Grace has yet to understand. And that puts them both in danger from mysterious forces intent on abusing the dragon's power. And now it's up to Grace and her school friends to uncover the sinister plot threatening the entire city!

Review: The book started out a bit slow and could have maybe been a bit shorter, though I get that the author was trying to develop a rich storyline. Enjoyed the characters, each an individual. Rating 3.5⭐️.

When Grace moves to China with her mom and new step-dad, she soon learns that the myths her father used to tell her are more truth than fiction.
This was a fun and interesting graphic novel about Chinese culture, featuring a very cute dragon.

This book & I just didn't really click. I'm down with the premise and the art is fairly cute, but it felt like I was constantly wading through exposition dumps (which I find much more jarring in graphic novels) then getting whiplash with the speed of some of the story beats. Maybe I'm just a grump today ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. This is very much a part one (though well contained, no cliff hangers here really) so I'll give it another shake when book 2 comes around to see where it lands.
