I'm not the audience for this book, but if you have a middle grade reader who likes Percy Jackson, have them pick this up! The mythos is fun, and I always love a group of friends who work together to solve a problem.

The Awakening Storm had some adorable graphics, and a cute story line. The mystery wrapped up nicely in the end, and was well thought through with plenty of foreshadowing. I liked all of the diversity in the book; it was well incorporated.

American Chinese girl gets an dragon egg... it became more than I expected and adventurous. I love a group going on a journey to solve a quest of puzzle. Great read.

A young girl unravels a mystery about who she really is.

This book was really boring and confusing at times.  I didn't feel invested or engaged with the story and the characters had no real development. I know this is the first book in the series, but I was expecting more setup or background on the characters. The author does include some heavier topics, such as, racism and death of a parent, but they're really glossed over.

Overall, a bland graphic novel that involves dragons and myths that I just couldn't get into.

I loved the main cast of characters in this story - these teens are interesting and empathetic and diverse! The storyline is bolstered by Chinese mythology, and there are parts that feel heavy on explanation but I was pleased that they are tempered by high impact emotional and action scenes. The art style is super cute, and who doesn't love dragons? This leaves us open for a sequel but it wasn't so short as to feel incomplete.

Very fun and enjoyable story about a girl who finds a dragon. A nice mix of life as a teen, mythology, and not so typical teen things. I also really enough the art style. It's very colourful and the dragons are simply gorgeous!

A nice story on its own but it also makes me excited to read the second part and see how the story will continue.
