While I appreciated some of the chapters I found to be a bit boring and way too slow. There is so much that could’ve stayed out of the final draft. At times it was easy to relate to Dolly but at others it was way too difficult if you’re not from London. She names a lot of places that seem quite relevant to the story but if you’re not familiar, it would be hard to keep up with. The one thing I really liked was the honest and intimate description of Dolly and Farly’s friendship. I enjoyed seeing every aspect of it, the good, the bad, the dark secrets and the unconditional support.

this book is incredibly well written and the audiobook well narrated. dolly alderton knows her shit and how to articulate herself. i found this book to be incredibly relatable for the most part (not so much the turning 30/existential crisis part, because i’m 19 and barely and adult lol, but the rest). this book speaks about societal pressures, romance, eating disorders, unhealthy coping through drug and alcohol abuse, growing into adulthood and out of your childhood, the importance of platonic love(!!!), loss and grief, letting go and accepting and sooo much more. no matter your age, this book has something important to say to you and you have something valuable to learn from it.

A really lovely book in portraying your 20s, it felt reassuring to me to hear someone else talk about the importance of friendships instead of other relationships. I did find the narrative a little difficult to follow timeline wise sometimes but that is probably more due to me listening to it instead of reading it. I loved the portrayal of platonic love and did sometimes wish there was less about romantic relationships and more about friendships but that's quite subjective.
Would definitely recommend reading this book.

I absolutely loved this book! It went from happy to sad to hopeful every few chapters and it’s message is one of acceptance, love and realising you are enough. Cannot wait to read more from Dolly Alderton!

I didn't anticipate liking this. I don't tent towards memoirs, don't tend towards books about love, or even nonfiction in general. I admit I was cynical about this book. 

But Dolly's style, reflective, emotionally vulnerable but humorous, nostalgic and dreamy... It felt very intimate and familiar. Even situations outside my lived experience spoke to my understanding. And those that were reflective of my own life felt frighteningly accurate. 

I'd recommend it to any woman, but especially those in their mid to late twenties, on that knifes edge between the girl you were and the woman you'll be. 

Fair warning, I laughed, I cried, and I was triggered by some of the content.
