Very disappointing. I could maybe go 2.5 stars.

Most of this book is focused on Kate trying to keep two romances in two different timelines going. Yes, she is gathering medallions, but the book really focuses more on the romances. Sad after such a strong start.

Also, I found out after reading this that you are really supposed to read the novella Time's Echo before you read this. Which would help this make more sense. But it never says that on this book's Amazon page.

I loved the first book but I felt the second book was even better!! The plot thickened, the characters developed nicely, Kate was standing up for herself which I enjoy seeing in books. The historical aspect was neat too. The butterfly effect was address perfectly and it was great how the author really stuck to that. The library within the Chronos field that held all history and changes was a really great idea within the Sci-Fi realm.

Poor Kate though trying to restart her relationship with Trey. I give her props for trying but at her age, move on. There are always other fish in the sea. I'm so tired of one true love ships. I get Kiernan. He had a lot more time with 'other' Kate than Kate had with Trey.

The lost star is for the jumping complexity. I had to re-read many parts and pages because she would jump and everything was just lost.

Fun enough to keep reading the series

This second book didn't hold my interest as much as the first one in this series. Now that the setting is developed, I'm not as fascinated by the good characters' efforts to beat the bad. The historical settings explored in the first book were more well known and obviously real, whereas in this one I didn't know the author was drawing on real events until I read her acknowledgements at the end of the book.

took awhile to catch my attention and the attempt to make me like Kieran as much as Trey failed but I really enjoyed it once it for going

Who knew?

Love the history and the adventure. They characters are great, both in the past and present, and whatever is in-between.

History, time travel and mystery

Just what I enjoy! I am loving these characters and can understand their reactions and behaviors. I like how UNpredictable the story is. Just when I think I know where we are headed, whoops! I was wrong! Love this series!

The premise of these, is, like, what if L. Ron Hubbard was a sinister time traveler and also your grandfather, and you have to jump around in time to stop him. This one had some weird current pop-culture references (which I don't love in contemporary lit, since it really dates you), or maybe the last one did too and I just forgot, but it's not THAT big of a deal.

Time travel is hard, and that's essentially what this book is about - the intricacies of being a time traveler. They're very fun.

I'm furious at this book. Because I read the first one last week and immediately downloaded this one and now I have to walk 6 blocks to the library tomorrow on my lunch break to get the third. I am so excited at how Kate is developing and to find out what happens with Kiernan and Trey. And to see which characters are redeemable, Snaping, if you will.

When I heard that the second book in the CHRONOS files series was in the making, I couldn't fight the urge of getting an ARC copy. I humbly thank Rysa Walker and Netgalley for providing me with one. If you don't have a clue what this series is about, please check my review on the first book in the series --> Click me! You simply cannot go into the second book without reading the first because you would be immensely confused!

I mainly respect Rysa Walker as an author because of her amazing writing style! If we recall, from my last review, I mentioned how she made learning about history fun and exciting! We're gonna talk about the historical events mentioned in this book later but for now, let's focus on Rysa's writing style and ability. Rysa Walker has the power to entice any reader, I believe. She focuses on more of the quality of her writing than the quantity. You could really pull apart Rysa's personality through all the dialogue of her characters, who are also uniquely described. .

Not only was her writing ability shown through this book, but her her ability to recall and kind of mash up historical events was phenomenal! Like I stated in my review for the first book, this series is actually one of the better time travel books I've ever read. Even though I'm kind of lost at the whole timeline change and space time continuum parts of the story. The elements of time change and the shifting of timelines really shifted in nicely with the story line. There was nothing too confusing about the time travel in this book, which I've always looked for in a good historical fiction book.

The historical events in the book were eloquently picked out! There was the time period with Houdini and if you recall from the first book, there was the murder and action scene with Holmes at the Chicago World Fair, 1983. Rysa also puts a fun twist on the time period of the Quakers, which I thought was fantastic! She doesn't bore you with the facts of these historical events, but rather puts you in the shoes of the people that lived in that time period.

Although it was amazing, a book never comes without flaws. In all honestly I thought it was bit confusing when Kate traveled through time. I often got confused to which timeline was the modern here and now, if that makes any sense. I just think those parts could have been quite a bit more clear. Rysa makes time traveling seem like a blast! Just think about it. Let's say you're ordering a pizza (an example from the book). You would place your order, set a stable point at the front of the door, jump forward thirty minutes, and then get there when the pizza man shows up!

A masterly written historical fiction book with action, plot twists, and a steamy love triangle! If historical fiction's not your preferred genre, no worries! This book is not your ordinary, dull historical fiction book. If you're a Rystorian (a group name I made up to call Rysa's fans) don't hesitate in checking out the Goodreads group of Rysa's books! Have a great day everyone, and I really hope you check out this series!
