this book fills in a lot of background information about certain characters and events. I admire this author dedication to using as much real history as possible in her stories. she even reflected the mindset of society in certain eras.
Dystopian travel
I’m enjoying this series. If you like dystopian and/or time travel fiction you should enjoy this series. I would definitely point out that this may not be acceptable for younger YA readers as it touches on some difficult themes that include: racism, possible genocide, violence, domestic violence, and some sexual themes.

Ugh. These books. I spent 80% of this very long book so annoyed by the longevity and lack of excitement and un-ending conversations. I almost gave up, but when you're already 7 hours into something, it seems such a waste not to finish. Then things finally start happening and there's some smart, intricate time travel happening and I'm actually enjoying the book again.
Yes, I detest the idea of listening to 17 hrs of the final book cause I know if I actually read it it'll take me a month. Yes, there are so many plot holes it's ridiculous. But yes, I want to know how this all plays out and will hate myself for it. 1.2x speed is my friend. 2.5/5

8-11-24: It's hard to find a series that is so compelling that the minute I finish one book in it, I must immediately get the next one. This is definitely one of those! So much so that I think my next series I write may involve time travel...

Loved it!
This is a fantastic series, I’m so glad there is more to come! Will definitely keep reading the rest of the series.

This series is possibly the best series I've ever read at managing parallel timelines with the world changing and only a select few remembering the previous timeline. The author shows such a deft hand at keeping the complications manageable and interesting in equal parts that I almost never want to read a book she writes if it doesn't involve time travel because it will just be missed potential.
This novel continues the fight against the Cyrists. Similar to the first this doesn't get our heroes all that closer to stopping them (which, I assume, will be the crux of the final novel in the series) but it does move the overall plot along while having a couple of interesting subplots. The Kiernan-Kate-Trey love triangle is getting trickier and more interesting; it's actually relevant to the overall plot, as well, so doesn't feel tacked-on like so many other romantic complications in books.
If you like intricate time travel and/or a no-nonsense female protagonist who shows she's a human with a gift just trying to fix the world then I highly recommend this series. I look forward to Book 3.

Although confusing at first, I really enjoy the way this series blends time travel, historical events, and drama together with ease. I could do without the love triangle, but I understand the purpose of it in regards to the narrative.
The time travel in this series does not make any sense. I feel like I could have skipped a good 60% of this book and been fine. Of course I will still read the next book to see how this all ends (hopefully).
This is even better than the first, with better character development and a deeper plot. The adventures through time and the high stakes kept me reading excitedly into the wee hours. A really fun, fast-paced read.
