Wow, this volume had me thinking "Is this how it ends???" even knowing full-well that there are 2 more volumes after this. It just hits such a climax of 'how can they possibly escape this??'.
I will say this this is the only volume where I struggled so much to understand what was happening physically. There was a lot of blank panels with the word 'swoosh' or 'smack' or some such and I couldn't figure out if someone had hit someone, and if so, who'd done it. I would be staring at the page and honestly have no idea who's limb was being shown rushing through the air or who's ribs were being broken. It was too vague for anyone to understand. I really disliked that, personally.
BUT! There were several moments that had me visibly shaken and flipping the pages as fast as humanly possible.
I want to give it a 3.5 but I feel like the series is so clever and like nothing I've ever read. So I'm morally obligated to give it a 4. Just know that within this series, this volume is just okay where the others are phenomenal.

Every time I read this I forget just how messed up it is. Murder, physical and psychological abuse, assault, and so many other things happening to these characters. Still, it’s so well written with gorgeous art. Having this in a physical form is so interesting after only reading it online.
