This isn't your typical crime novel. This isn't about cops and killers, not exactly; it's about what happens when a killer tries to go straight.

Time is taking its toll on Mob killer Kevin Markinson. When his boss suggests he take a vacation, he heads to New Hampshire and his wife and kids. Sleepy small town--what can happen there? Lots.

I only gave this book three stars because there were moments when I read a chapter and thought, "Why is this here? It doesn't seem to move the plot along, or really explicate the characters all that much," then the next chapter would show why the previous one had been necessary. Some of those could've been combined into a single chapter, and I'd have rated the book higher.

Apart from that, I really enjoyed Lead Poisoning. I wasn't sure what to expect, though the premise definitely intrigued me. The protagonist is a Vietnam veteran, a Marine sniper--which is doubtless how he ended up in his line of work--and he's very well drawn, as are his wife and his two sons. Even minor characters have a certain spark, and I think this is one of Seymour's strengths as a writer.
