3/5 (Re-read, rating unchanged)

I sometimes fell short of being the best, but I never fell short of giving it my best.

Main takeaways:
- Making your bed may seem trivial when bigger assignments are waiting for you. Still, starting off the day with this small task (the author recommends doing this before breakfast and going to the bathroom) can give you a sense of pride and ensure you're ready to deal with the rest of your tasks. Also, making your bed can prevent extra stress before going to sleep at night
- A support network of people who love and support each other, and share the same values and goals, will help all of those involved stay motivated and find strength even on bad days

Actionable advice: Try to take failures as motivation & value/grow your support network

Very easy to read, as 10 life lessons learned in the SEALs are explained and made relevant to all of us.

Don't skip the commencement speech. It's not only a great summary, but offers encouragement.

I'm about to get up and make my bed.

Was a bit cautious going into this because I was worried it would come across as a stereotypical military-preachy type of thing, but it was actually very heartfelt. Really short, easy, enjoyable read with a lot of hope.

[Book #2 read while doing 75 HARD]

Simple book full of life wisdom. Inspirational diving into the transformative experience of Navy Seals training and the greater career and life lessons it brought about.

Make Your Bed is an easy read that makes things seem not so bad, and that's always a nice change. A good book to pick up every now and again as needed. It's nothing incredibly profound, but I think that's where it gets its charm - simple life lessons that we mostly know but also mostly forget.

So I'm not 100% sure why I read this as I have very little interest in being a Navy Seal or anything remotely military HOWEVER I have been doing a lot of housework over the last couple of days and non-fiction audiobooks are just very easy to listen to so there we have it. This was fine. Very generic advice and a lot of it quite toxic masculinity-ish. BUT not as much as I would have thought, so that was nice. There were some nice comments about bullying, resilience and judging a man by the size of his heart and not the size of his boots which I actually thought was quite wholesome. Will I listen to it again or has it changed my life? No. But it was fine and I don't regret giving it the time I did.
