I put this book up with “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. It’s short, I read it in about an hour. I found it motivating, thought provoking, heartfelt and sincere. Also, it did not come across even remotely preachy. I strongly recommend it.

While I would have loved for this book to be longer, the lessons provided are truly valuable. I think even more people would be interested if it were a longer sort of novel, with a more lined up, detailed story. But still, incredible book

I'm glad I read this book. In the book, William McRaven talks about his experience in the SEAL training where he faced numerous challenges. He talks about his time in Iraq and Afghanistan as a wartime leader where he met many great personalities, refugees, rangers, terrorists and tyrants. Overall, this book is a bundle of motivation and inspiration. Really liked it, couldn't have asked for a better start full of motivation to this new year!

Easy to read, and well worth it.

This book was very motivating. Well-written.

Nothing unique but enjoyable with good stories to back up the important life lessons contained. Easy to read and goes quick.

I have a lot of respect for Admiral McRaven after reading this. He clearly is a man very dedicated to serving his country and shows endless strength of character. His tips here are nothing too original, but the real gems of the book are the stories he shares of his time training to become a Navy Seal and the highly successful military career that followed. My favorite was a look back on his time guarding the infamous dictator Saddam Hussein after his capture by the US military. McRaven was amused to point out that Hussein did not make his bed. This could have easily been a four or five star read for someone heavily interested in a daily look into life as a Navy Seal.
