Still the same mix of emotional trauma and shoujo sillyness. In this volume the emotional beats were off in some chapter, i.e. Uo-chans storyline is weird. The student council plot is just boring, but I really liked that the healthy Zodiac families were also in the spotlight.

I managed to squeeze in one more!

In my opinion, this is where the story really picks up. Characters are coming to terms with their emotions - however slowly. Tohru has a goal now! She wants to break the curse, she is now an active player in the game. The roles of the older members of the zodiac are explored further and the trauma that the Sohma family carries is now more apparent to them all.

I’ve ordered number 8 and am hoping to receive it soon, though ordering manga in the UK is quite difficult atm…

I found myself skimming much of the student council nonsense. I don't really care for it. The rest was really good. The story is so heartbreaking.
