2.5 stars? I have no idea how to rate this. It took me forever to read and I found the start to be rather boring and almost creepy in a way. But it does get better. There are some great quotable kinds of moments and some of it is so true in actual life. Like the never being happy in a place unless you can be happy in your own mind. If You Could See Me Now is not your typical love story.

"That was all part of giving someone a piece of your heart; they ended up taking a whole chunk of your mind and reserving it all for themselves."

The premise of the story is Elizabeth is an extremely type A kind of personality with everything needing to be spotless. Things need to be exactly planned out and nothing can disrupt those plans or it causes her stress. She has adopted her nephew since her sister is rarely around and is usually drunk or disruptive when she is. Ivan the imaginary friend comes along and changes her world in many ways. She learns to accept herself a little better and start looking at things in a healthier manner. An interesting concept but something about the story didn't really work for me.

"Imagine not meeting someone because you loved them so much . Imagine hurting someone, making them feel lonely, angry and unloved because you think it's the best for them.

I love love love love love love love love love love love love LOVE this book. Honestly, at first I was like, eh pretty mid book, I'll maybe give it a three or a four. but as I kept reading bro. BRO. AND THE ENDING?? I'M CRYING. ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE EVER READ BEFORE. SO SO SO SO SO BEAUTIFUL AND SAD AT THE SAME TIME. BUT ELIZABETH WILL BE OKAY. I KNOW SHE WILL. AND SHE'LL PROBABLY END UP WITH BENJAMIN, BUT SHE'LL NEVER FORGET IVAN, I JUST KNOW IT.
yes, Elizabeth pissed me off a lot of times in this book and I thought she was a bad mom, but all that was made up by the ending. I LOVE this book. 10/10. Would recommend ❤❤❤

This was surprisingly sad, but I did enjoy this. I don't think it's for everyone, I think you need to have a little imagination. I loved Elizabeth she definitely deserves the world and the fact that
Spoiler Ivan wasn't real and it was in her head was just heartbreaking.
I do feel like I could understand it, she feels so lonely and is lonely through her entire life. She takes care of everyone and she doesn't have anyone caring for her. But I did like how it ended, on a positive note, she ended up happy, that's all I wanted.

So when a writer is about to write a book , a romantic one, what does he have in mind?
1)the usual stuff , you know boy meets girl, boy likes girl , they fall in love, the usual problems: parents don't agree,a friend is jealous and makes problems, one of the lovers is sick ouch..etc
2) the kinda unusual stuff, girl sees boy, he's a bad guy, interesting she tries to find his good side, and she manages to fix him and fall in love with him in the process , his past catches up to him , bad guys want to ruin his life...etc
3) girl sees boy , he's good looking, he's bad he's very Interesting but he has a dark secret and by dark i mean that he's some kind of supernatural creature , but here is the thing we used ALL of them:
vampire boy/human girl checked
vampire girl/human boy checked
werewolf boy/human girl checked
werewolf girl ugh /human boy checked
vampire girl /werewolf boy checked
zombie boy/human girl checked
so let's be honest what is left?
uh uh i know, i know let's have an imaginary friend and a human, you mean a love story of children? no grown ups, huh?

I found it quite hard to get into, maybe it was all a bit too "magical" and unreal for me. However the ending really moved me and made it all worth it.

I don't know why I always end up loving and hating Cecelia Ahern at the same time. That won't stop me though from reading all her books. This is just my third book by her (and I still have one with me). Seriously, I love how she writes, how her creative mind works, how she was able to make me believe that there's Ekam Eveileb world, Elbisivin person that's Ivan. Who's best friend to anyone whom he's assigned to be best friends with. And who, eventually fell in love with Elizabeth. But you know it's not possible since it's just the three of them who sees each other. And it just won't work. So I cried. Cried to the point where I was saying to the book "you're just a book." xx

I found this entertaining but lacking a little on the interest level. I've found some of her novels are just a little too predictable...but usually still enjoyable in a chick flick kind of way. This one was a little odd but also fun....it deals with imaginary friends which was an interesting twist....it just didn't grab my attention as much as I would have liked...
