This quick holiday novella was just ok in my opinion.

Too much use of full names, it kept annoying me every time it happened.

Loved the spice, wasn’t lacking there!

The mistletoe bet by Maren Moore started out really strong. It had me really hooked and I was super excited to get into it. As time went on in the book I started to notice some things that I really didn't like. I mostly like this book and I loved the idea of the bet. But some things in this book were so rushed that you only get the surface of something You don't really get a full detailed explanation of what's going on. I understand that it's a novella and that may be the reason why. But I've read other novellas that cut out some of the fat that we don't really need and give us the details that we need. I don't really understand why the female main character attached so quickly to the male main character when she knew that she was going back to New York. It just seems highly unlikely to me and although it was really cute and sweet it also just happens so quickly. Also they made a bet to do one Christmas thing for every day until the Christmas party and that's when they would decide who would win the bet. But the only things they did was get a Christmas tree and decorate it, watch a Christmas movie, go ice skating, and attempt to make cookies which didn't even happen. They had even talked about going to his office so she could see the office to see everything he's accomplished and while they did go to his office they didn't actually look at anything he went there to sign paperwork which I feel like the only reason the author put them in the office so that they could have a doctor patient roleplay in the middle of a Christmas holiday romance. Which in all honesty felt a little out of place for me. The ending is really what gets me, as cute as it was that they decided to try the long distance thing together, the entire book there are mentions of bringing family back together and her family coming back together as a unit to celebrate the holidays once again and that seems to be a really strong point in the book that was never explored. She does not talk to her father for more than 2 minutes in the entire book when that was the whole point of her coming back, and then at the Christmas party where they decided on who won the bet and if she was going to try to work out something with Parker she doesn't even stay long enough to talk to any of her family other than to say hello to her dad. Like I get that she is supposed to be the grumpier side but come on this is your family and it's Christmas and if she truly had turned around for Christmas like she said that she did and lost the bet then why didn't she spend any of it with her family. She immediately goes home with him to sleep with him. Even though her mom planned this elaborate day and they had a dress up and everything else, this scene makes no sense. Also I'm really confused by the age of the main character at one point in the book it mentions that she's in her 40s and then at another point it mentioned she's not even in her thirties yet. That really confused me and I wish I understood what age the character actually is. I know I've complained a lot about this book but I gave it three stars for a really good reason I really do think this is a cute short holiday novella. I really enjoy the story of Quinn and Parker and I really enjoy their playful banter and teasing. I also really enjoyed that the character is a plus size character We don't get a whole lot of those in the reading world and it's really nice for characters of different weights being recognized as people who can also have holiday romances. And I really enjoy the way her mom was really playful and teasing. This Book is kind of neutral for me, I really enjoyed some things about it but other things just made me not want to give it a higher star rating. I say that if you enjoy tropes like this where it's like a grumpy sunshine trope, brother's best friend trope, plus size holiday romance trope, or anything like this in a very short story- then you will probably like this book. I normally like books similar to this but this one just felt a little bit low compared to some other ones that I have read.

Quinn Scott hasn’t been back in Strawberry Hollow, the small town she grew up in, in 4 years and can’t wait to go back to her fast paced life in NYC, but when Parker Grant, her brother’s best friend and former crush bets he can make her love Christmas again, she’ll take the challenge head on without thinking about consequences.
This is a cute novella about a young woman who couldn’t wait to run away from her family drama, leaving everything she loved behind in the process and how she a fateful trip and a ridiculous bet have her finding purpose again.
Short, fun and sweet with a side of sexy, this is a good read to start your Christmas engines running.

3.5 stars!

This was heartwarming and super fast to read. Perfect for the holiday time as it’s all about getting your Christmas spirit back.

3.5 stars. Fun, spicy Christmas novella.

I usually don’t add this small novellas to good reads, just read them and forget, but I’ll add this one cause it’s a day before new year and I need to close my challenge and also it’s a Christmas book
By the way, 3 stars, really clichéd book but like for spice
