Even when the story flags, Herron's dry humor and razor wit propels you forward. This is isn't my favorite of Herron's plots, but you can't help but turn the page seeing what Jackson Lamb will say next. These are espionage thrillers, driven by it's characters as much as meticulous plots.

Ok! Um so far I don't particularly love any of the books I've read In the series. Yes, I have been breezing through the series faster than I have any other series, but I just. I don't know. Once I finish the book I'm like "Ok, that was decent", but no feelings really stick.
The thing that has me sticking through it my love for the show characters, and desire to get inside their head— to know who they are as people more than the show is able to portray (Catherine my beloved 🥺♥️). And seeing what content they cut/changed will always be interesting to me. Honestly, though, the show is better! The book has its moments, but I feel like any changes the show made improved upon rather than detracted from the story. I'm looking forward to reading #5 and onwards, since that's just like, fully new content to me, but so far I feel that the show just took the books and made them better
