Another's excellent installment in this series.

At the risk of heresy, though, I will say that I thought some of the character changes made by the Apple TV+ adaptation of this particular novel improved on the story (a rarity).

This may be my last slough house book. I really like the narrative style and some of the characters, but we are reaching a point where it kind of feels like this author is using his characters as a proxy to just say horrible things about people.

I thought that the previous two entires in the Slough House series were good. I think Real Tigers is excellent. The first one where I thought, "this was a really good book." Jackson Lamb starts appearing as something less than a total jerk. The extreme cynicism of the previous books is still there but starting to weaken. Both of these are good things in my book. The plot also felt more realistic than Dead Lions. Again, a positive.

As always, Mick Herron is an extremely funny writer. One of the funniest out there in my opinion. His wit is sharp and his prose smooth. If I were to be a writer, I would like to write like Mick Herron.

Great fun but hard to be objective having watched prior to reading.
