Although this is a short read it is still full of fun and exiting mystery. I was shocked at so many turns thinking I knew the whole story, but then there was even more to discover. The authors did an amazing job with this story and I wish there was more to read on it, but sadly it seems as though we may never see the main character again. The ending was also jam-packed with mystery, shocks, and excitement as the rest of the book, but it was also filled with some sadness. I will never regret reading this book, because it was such an interesting spin on ghost stories, murder mysteries, and the struggles of losing someone you love.

I finished a couple of days ago, but needed time to process it.
This is a tale of horrific acts, told gently, and through the spaces. Through allegory and metaphor.
Through traditional paths.
To say much more would be to ruin it.

This book was so cool. Dead protagonist solving a mystery with her not-dead detective dad, a strange magical interstitial story, and a crime that just gets weirder and definitely more horrible as the story goes on. It's a short book and easy to spoil but I will say for trigger warnings that
Spoileryou'll get a sense of where the bad thing is going pretty early and yes, there are many indirect references to sexual trauma but nothing on the page.

This was my second reading of this book, and I wish I'd known how I felt about it the first time so I could compare how I felt then/now, but I only vaguely remembered reading it in the first place. I'd say it was worth reading again. It is a quick, heartfelt novel, centering around racism, murder, child abuse, and grief. The spirituality and symbolism is what draws you in and keeps you reading with The Things She's Seen. While I feel like with any other 'mystery' novel, the conclusion would have been obvious from the start, the symbolism with colors and crows and Fetchers from Catching's perspective keeps the mystery alive. At times the novel unravels in a rather convoluted manner, however I feel as though it was a great way to approach some of the darker secrets revealed in the novel.

"...He'd say there was no such thing as monsters. There were ... But [we] had only seen the men."

The story has the capability of moving you if you approach it with the right mindset, or if you enjoy a book that runs a little off skew to the typical mystery novel.
