If You Love Me

Helena Hunting

4.18 AVERAGE

If You Love Me by Helena Hunting is an emotional, swoon-worthy hockey romance that stole my heart! This slow-burn, forbidden love story pairs Roman, the utterly charming and devoted single-father NHL goalie, with Lexi, the trailblazing first female assistant coach in the league. Their chemistry is electric, and the witty banter between makes their connection impossible to resist. Hunting masterfully builds the tension, blending steamy moments with deeply emotional layers as Roman and Lexi navigate the challenges of their forbidden relationship.

Roman’s dedication to his daughter and his vulnerability make him a hero to root for, while Lexi’s strength and determination as she breaks barriers in a male-dominated field are inspiring. The emotional depth of their journey—tackling themes of love, loss, and second chances—adds a richness to their story that will keep you hooked. Hunting’s storytelling is impeccable, weaving together passion, humor, and heart in a way that feels authentic and unforgettable. I listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic. Narrated in duet by Stephen Dexter and Stella Bloom, who both delivered exceptional performances. If You Love Me by Helena Hunting gets five smooches from me!

❝ Three years ago, Lexi and Roman shared an unforgettable night, but when Lexi disappeared without a word, Roman was left longing for her ever since. Now, out of nowhere, she’s back as the new assistant coach, and Roman is doing everything he can to resist breaking the rules…

Listen, Helena just gets me. She keeps giving us these swoon-worthy MMCs that have me fully feral, and Roman? Yeah, he’s officially my new favorite Daddy. The way he absolutely worships Lexi? Ugh, my heart. And don’t even get me started on how he looks out for not just her, but her sisters too, this man is the full package. Protective, obsessive, nurturing, and sexy as hell? It’s official: He’s the ultimate daddy material.

✨Their love story was so sweet, with just enough forbidden romance vibes to add that touch of delicious tension. There's minimal angst, plenty of fun banter (especially from the hilarious interactions among the players), and oh-my-goodness, the steaminess! Daddy Roman is exactly the kind of “protective yet dominating” character I live for. Another fantastic addition to this series, if you love a protective, doting alpha male and a sizzling forbidden romance, this one’s a must-listen! 😍🔥

Now, let’s talk about the narration, because Stephen and Stella absolutely killed it. Stephen, especially, blew me away as Roman. He’s already one of my favorite male narrators, and this just proves why. His delivery? Chef’s kiss. Stella was great as Lexi too, and together, they made this audiobook such an enjoyable experience.

I love the Terror family so much and wish I could be part of it! Roman was the sweet caring dad we all knew he was and it was so sweet to see him fall in love!

I alternated between the audio and ebook and enjoyed both a lot. Appreciate that this series is dual narrators as it really brings each character alive.

For whatever reason I didn’t love If You Love Me quite as much as If You Need Me, because something about Dallas totally stole my heart haha. But as usual Helena is hitting it out of the park with these terror men 🥰🥰😍😍

First, thank you so much to Helena Hunting and her team for the opportunity to read the arc of this incredible novel!

I was so excited to read Roman’s book from the start, I knew it was going to be one of my favorites. He has such a different position and personality from the rest of the team (even Hollis) which made this read fun. He was mature and wise, likely from his experience raising Aurora, but it was interesting to see a different side of him with Lexi. He balanced being involved in Lexi’s life and helping her with her sisters, without taking over.

Lexi was an incredibly strong character. I loved her position as a coach on the team, as it offered both a different approach to a sports romance and also a fun tension to the story. Her selflessness and love for her sisters was incredible to read. The added element of her struggling to be a parent and to reconcile how different her mother was to her sisters than her, created an interesting depth. I particularly loved watching her and her sisters embrace the Toronto Terror community.

Now for what I am sure you are waiting for…the spice. Lexi and Roman were very spicy though I would say the spiciest couple still remains Tristan and Rix.

I can’t wait to see what Helena Hunting has planned for the rest of our favorite Terror characters! Including a new favorite….Connor??

When Love Is Worth The Wait

I have been waiting for Roman’s story with bated breath and Helena Hunting has delivered in spades! If you love a romance with any and/or all of the below tropes then this book is for you!!

•Hockey Romance
•slow burn
•second chance romance
•one night more
•epic longing and angst
•Off Limits Workplace
•Boss/Employee
•single-dad/single-mom (guardianship)

Add in one extremely hot goalie with a heart of gold and a mouth that will make you blush and you will be falling head over skates in love with Roman Hammerstein. This man is the poster child for Book Boyfriend of the Year. The way he loves and cares absolutely sl@yed my heart! I have been rooting for this man’s HEA since book one. He has so much love to give and the moment he meets Lexi all bets are off because she’s 💯 the forever woman for him . Lexi snuck away without a trace after one passionate weekend with Roman and left no contact info. A few years pass and these two don’t meet again until she walks into the Terror locker room as the new Assistant Coach. Hello forbidden work place romance!

There is so much to unpack between Lexi and Roman. A lot has changed in their time apart, but their connection is undeniable and their passion is molten lava hot. I laughed, I cried and I cheered for them all throughout the book. This story tugged hard on my heart strings. I love, Roman and the way he’s so supportive and protective of his loved ones. He makes mistakes, but can admit when he’s wrong. His grumpy alpha-ness is heavily on display and boy is it hot. This man knows how to treat a woman with respect and reverence. Lexi definitely is his match in every way. She’s strong, knows how to lead on and off the ice, she is independent and fierce AF. That all being said we can’t be strong all the time and that’s where Roman and Lexi shine. They have such a great partnership and know how to be there for one another. Just trust me on this and get this book! You will love it! Don’t even hesitate. I couldn’t put it down. If I could give it a 100 stars I would.

If You Love Me was an entertaining tale I absolutely enjoyed. It's the 4th book in the Toronto Terror series and is a second chance, sports romance that follows Lexie, the Teams newly hired assistant coach and Roman the star goalie. These two meet 3 years ago where they spent an amazing couple days together and neither of them had forgotten it. Now they're working together and lines can't be crossed.

The chemistry between them was intense and undeniable and I loved that we get both their point of view as we see them battle their past and present feeling while fighting the attraction for each other. I loved that that there was no miscommunication, and that they were mature enough to talk through their thoughts and feelings.

The team dynamics and found family aspect  was as incredible addition the the story. The secondary characters added to much fun and support when needed and I loved all the added characters.

This story was well written and was an enjoyable tale that kept me hooked until the end. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to hockey romance lovers.

I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Stephen Dexter and Stella Bloom. They did an incredible job and were able to easily switch to different voices for the varying characters. They brought out the right emotions where needed and kept me fully engrossed in the story. I enjoyed listening to them narrate this novel.

Big thank you to Helena and her team for the audio ARC 🥰

🍏 I have been OBSESSED with Roman and his mystery lady since the epilogue of Dallas & Hemi’s book. Like, the little sneak peek of Roman had me literally squealing while listening/driving (and I have the dash cam footage to prove it 😂) then, the prologue chapters of If You Stay The Night had me absolutely FERAL by the time this ALC hit my email 🔥 Needless to say, daddy Roman and sexy Lexi had me in a chokehold from Chapter 1.

Stephen and Stella were also the perfect voices for Roman and Lexi! Stephen is always on of my favourite male voice actors, and I loved having Stella voice Lexi after also voicing Hammer/Peggy/Aurora in If You Want Me! Felt very full-circle 🥰

I have loved Helena’s characters and her style of storytelling for years, and although every story feels comfortingly familiar, each couple is uniquely fun and hilarious and loveable. Roman and Lexi are no different. I loved how Roman was solid about his feelings from the moment she walked back into his life, and how Lexi felt the same way. Their love for each other allowed them to work through the challenges thrown at them as a united front. Helena also tackled the topic of grief and parental loss in a beautiful and authentic way, and it helped heal my own grieving heart a little bit.

I’m so excited for these two to be out in the wild, and also cannot wait to see whose story will be next to unfold! 😍

I absolutely loved Roman and Lexi's story. This book gave me everything I wanted from this series and then some—angst, heart, steam, and a connection that felt so deeply rooted in who these characters are at their core.

What stood out to me the most was how much care Helena Hunting took in building the relationship between Roman and Lexi. Their connection felt so genuine, like it had been simmering under the surface long before the story even started. As someone who's the same age as Lexi, I found myself relating to her in a way I don't always get to in romance books. Our circumstances couldn't be more different, but having that shared perspective—the weight of trying to figure out your own life while still carrying the expectations of others—added such a personal layer to the reading experience for me.

And Roman... I truly think he might be my favorite hero in this series so far. He was everything I needed—protective without being overbearing, patient without feeling passive, and serious in a way that made him feel so sure of what he wanted. I loved that he never treated his past mistakes like regrets. He acknowledged that those choices shaped him into the man he is now, and that perspective made him feel so emotionally mature. It made it even more satisfying to watch him navigate his feelings for Lexi—he knew exactly what he wanted, but he was never going to push her to take more than she was ready to give. The way he respected her boundaries while still making it so clear how much he wanted her absolutely wrecked me.

I also really enjoyed the secondary characters in this book—Lexi's sisters brought such a fun dynamic, and even her distant relationship with her father added an extra emotional layer without feeling forced. And can we talk about the found family vibes in this series? It's been a theme throughout, but this book really honed in on how these characters show up for each other—not just in the big, dramatic moments, but in all the small, quiet ways too. Seeing the hockey guys embrace Lexi not just as Roman's person, but as one of their own, made my heart so full. I loved that she existed in a totally different space than the other female characters we've met—she wasn't just someone on the sidelines watching the guys' careers unfold, she was in the trenches with them. It made her connection to the team feel so much deeper and added this whole new dynamic to the group that I didn't even know I needed.

Also... I need to formally stake my claim on Connor Grace. Sorry, not sorry.

One of my favorite things about this book was how subtly Helena Hunting set up future couples without making it feel obvious or forced. There were a few moments that had me absolutely dying for certain stories (no spoilers from me, sorry!), and I already know this series is only going to get better from here.

If You Love Me was emotional, tender, spicy, and full of that signature warmth that makes this series so special. I loved every second of it, and I'm desperate for more like this from Hunting!

From the moment we were introduced to Roman he had me intrigued, fast forward to If You Need Me and OH MY GOSH!!! I NEEDED his book ASAP because holy mother of PLOT TWISTS!!!

Now we’re here, we’re FINALLY here and Roman’s story is about to be told, my whole body is shaking with anticipation!

So from the get go Roman had my heart. His relationship with Peggy is so freaking beautiful, he’s such a wonderful dad. The relationship with his teammates is strong, they have a bond, a bond that makes each of them a family and now in comes Lexi…and man does she knock him for six.

Lexi is an absolute treat. She’s not had life as easy as others. When an accident ends with her mother passing she’s left to look after her two young sister’s one who just happens to be obsessed with the Toronto Terrors. The team she’s become the assistant coach for who also happens to house the man she hasn’t stopped thinking about after their weekend fun, three year ago.

The shock of their first meet again to their insanely hot chemistry these two could not help but be pulled together. The tension and the way their looks to each other could start a fire they were that heated, gah!

I loved seeing the fatherly side to Roman, the way he treats and adores Peggy, the way he acted with Fee and Callie, oh be still my beating heart. I fell for this man hard and fast.

I liked that there was minimal drama that they were both grown up enough to talk through their problems and feelings. Neither of the pushed the other into doing things they didn’t feel they could handle.

Watching whilst they manoeuvre through their relationship was fun and VERY hot but heart wrenching at times. I honestly don’t think there’s a more perfect couple than these two.

Helena (aka queen of hockey romance’s) smashed this book so freaking hard. The rollercoaster that is this book had me hooked from the very first page. Everything about these two and their story made this book unputdownable.
