3.75
But when Lonan’s destiny and his suffocation of being isolated, he runs away and kills his mother.
Now they are both kings.
I put 3.75 because this book is more angsty and the author put their relationship to the test.
Lack of communication and all.
Revenge was a success and HEA.
Graphic: Blood, Death, Injury/Injury detail, and Sexual content

I'll start by saying that this was wonderful and a great ending to this series. I loved the way we got to see Lonan and Ash really mature as people and grow together as a couple while addressing their own doubts and insecurities. I also liked that the conflict was more internal and relational than circumstantial. The ending with Finally, I most of all love how Ash and Lonan fight for each other and how they love each other SO deeply, it was beautifully romantic.
In these types of series, for me, the third book is hard. I'm usually bored out of my mind, and that didn't happen with King of Death. I didn't like it as much as the first 2 books BUT that was more because the first 2 books were SO good, and I personally am not as interested in the stuff that happens after the MCs get together as I am in the MCs getting together. Lily, however, does a damn good job of making this just as interesting as the first two books, it just didn't quite get there for me - and I do think this is a me issue and not a reflection on King of Death.
Some things that kinda bothered me in this book:
In the same way, when they finally got around to killing the Carlin and Baylor, etc. that felt a little rushed.
I have mixed feelings about how every little thing got wrapped up in a neat bow at the end, it felt...maybe a little forced, but I also liked it.
I'm ready for the spin offs now! *cough* Nua/Gillie *cough* Odran *cough* Iodny

I felt the first half dragged on a little too long - I get that Lily was trying to establish how much of an Ahole Ash was turning into and how strained their relationship was, But I felt like this could have been done in maybe 100 pages instead of 250? It just ended up feeling like Lonan and Ash were just hanging out in the palace and having hot sex but also being passive aggressive and not communicating for 250 pages...In the same way, when they finally got around to killing the Carlin and Baylor, etc. that felt a little rushed.
