Excellent compilation, but its brevity is perhaps its main issue. The podcasts offer the same information if not more, and it's more entertaining. Great book, though.

Anyone who enjoys self-help books is going to love this! For everyone else, it's structure and breakdown of each interviewee is done in a concise and fun style that is easy to enjoy. There are some great gems in here but, like all books in this genre, it all depends on who you relate to and what strikes a chord with you. Anyone in a rut, or struggling to find some inspiration and motivation, should--at least--read a few chapters of this book.

Pick and choose what you want to take away from this book.

Tools of Titans is not meant to be read all the way through and I wholeheartedly agree. Although I struggled to get through certain sections due to a lack of interest in the topic, much of the information and concepts presented in this book are moderately interesting at worst and profound at best. On occasion, Ferriss's writing can come across as a bit self-centered (i.e. "As I was writing this book is Paris, sipping my glass of (x)..." sort of thing), but the value of the book's content makes up for it.

If you're looking to get as much value from this book in the least time possible, I would highly recommend going straight to the back of the book, where Ferriss summarizes some of the commonalities of the people he's interviewed over the years and more importantly, the books that have been most frequently recommended by those same people. After doing so, flip through each section and skip liberally if you so desire.

Is it a page turner from start to finish? No. Absolutely not. Would I recommend it just based on likelihood of finding at least one profound nugget of wisdom or info that may shift your perspective on something? Absolutely.

There's a ton of good insight in here. For one person, it's a bit long/repetitive, but that's pretty necessary to cover a wide range of needs/conversations.

Never been fond of TF but hadn’t listened to enough of his podcasts/books/etc to really judge. Most of this book is taken directly from his podcast interviews. Thank heaven. At least I don’t have to listen to anymore of this. It’s a hard DNF for me.
Basically this is a circle jerk of male, white, cis, sole-breadwinners from mostly wealthy backgrounds. Okay there is 1 woman and 1 wife also included for a paragraph each. If you think the conclusion is all “Titans do this or use that” use a bit of common sense and consider that if the same people with the same backgrounds and world views are interviewed, it’s inherently going to come out as a homogeneous gloop.
