This is the first book that I purchased on my kindle, and what sparked my desire to read far and wide.

“Routine, in an intelligent man, is a sign of ambition.” —W.H. Auden

This is the first I'd heard of "Ben Franklin’s famous quote: 'Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.'", and it's a framework that I often use to organize my life. For e.g., my Google Drive is broken down into these three "chapters".

Actually an enjoyable read. I am trying to refrain from peppering family and friends with my favorite quotes.

For some reason I feel compelled to explain myself here. Mixed feelings on this book. It is 33% absolute bullshit, 33% hmm maybe that is good advice especially if you are a well off Silicon Valley Tech Bro with lots of time/money/fame, and 33% genuinely good advice from some smart people. I got enough actionable items from it that it squeaked out a three star rating. Highlights for me were Robert Rodriguez, Kevin Kelly, Marc Andreessen, Jamie Foxx, and Tony Robbins (surprisingly). Lowlights are pretty low, Peter Thiel, Kevin Rose, Scott Adams, and Noah Kagan. I would not recommend this book for most people, but if you are a productivity/self-improvement/quantified self nerd and you can stomach tech-bros, then give it a shot.

This is basically a compendium of interview notes from his podcast, sprinkled with some other material. Sometimes Tim's stuff can veer a little douchey or woo, and there's some of that, but mostly it's just a distillation of what interesting people had to say. There are a lot of references to other works (books, in particular), so this will spin up your ADHD if you're susceptible (as I am). I really liked that aspect of it though, and also that you can pretty much just drop into the book anywhere w/o context and read some new person's interesting thoughts.

Interesting to a point

This book took me ages to get through. I did find some of it insightful in the way a buzzfeed list has an accumulation of interesting ideas/thoughts/items. It was ok.

Tim distills the wisdom of successful celebrities, artists, athletes and business people down into a book jam packed with so much great advice you'll need to read it multiple times.

I like the use of a titan's guide. Some of my favorites were Paulo Coelho and Malcolm Gladwell. Would have like to see a few more women referenced, but in the end, I am glad I stuck with this book.

I'm not a fan. The tone is too arrogant and really aggressive. It's testosterone with a side of diet coke Buddhism. I only finished this book because there's a quote midway through the book that says "If you don’t have the patience to read something, don’t have the hubris to comment on it." FINE. I DID. Now I can say I dislike it on the author's own terms.

The recommended books list in the back is worth taking a quick look at.

Great book. But the format is kinda of a problem. Very good information, but most of them is available in the podcast. One needs to re read this book to understand the concepts.
